Support Worker - Children's Residential Home

We are looking for dedicated Support Workers to join my client's 6-bed residential children's home in Yardley, Birmingham (B25), supporting some of the UK's most vulnerable children and young people.

This is a trauma-informed environment where patience, resilience, consistency and genuine care are essential.

The home currently supports a young person who requires 1:1 support, so the successful candidate will need to be attentive, patient and committed to providing consistent, individualised care.

This role requires real dedication and heart, as you will be supporting young people who may have experienced significant trauma and challenging life experiences.

Shift Pattern

The role involves long shifts and flexibility is essential:

  • Weekdays: 7:30am - 10:30pm

  • Weekends: 8:30am - 10:30pm

  • Late shift: 2:00pm - 10:30pm during the week

  • Sleep-ins: approximately 1-2 per week

  • Flexibility to work weekends and bank holidays is required.

The Role

As a Support Worker, you will:

  • Support children with their emotional, physical and developmental needs

  • Build positive and trusting relationships with young people

  • Act as a positive role model

  • Support young people who have experienced trauma

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support where required

  • Encourage positive activities, routines and life experiences

  • Help young people develop independence and confidence

  • Support young people with their day-to-day needs

  • Work collaboratively as part of a dedicated team

  • Uphold strong safeguarding practices

This role includes long shifts, evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-ins, so flexibility and commitment are essential.

Please be aware this role requires a driver with a full UK driving licence and is unable to offer sponsorship.
