Charity of the Year 2024: Prior's Court

Each year, Charles Hunter Associates selects a Charity of the Year. A select few charities are put forward to all staff, who vote on which charity they would like to fundraise and volunteer for throughout the year.

Giving back to the community we work in is hugely important to us at Charles Hunter Associates and forms a considerable proportion of our social value commitments. Our consultants work closely with many charities and not-for-profit organisations that rely heavily on volunteers and external fundraising. Our staff see first-hand the important work these charities and not-for-profits do, and we are committed to doing all we can to support these organisations.

This year throughout Q1 and Q2, we are focussing all our efforts on Prior’s Court, a local charity that provides education and residential care for young people with complex autism. Our social care team have worked closely with Prior’s Court for a number of years and have seen the incredible impact they have on young people.

Based in Thatcham, Berkshire, Prior’s Court offer extensive bespoke facilities to help young people become more independent. They are incredibly ambitious and strive to become a global leader for young people with autism. Their purpose and ambition are inspirational and it is continuous motivation for all the staff at Charles Hunter Associates.

Each month, six to ten staff members will be heading off to Prior’s Court to volunteer. From helping with the therapy paddock to assisting the gardener, staff will be getting their hands dirty in any way possible. We are thrilled to be able to volunteer our staff’s time and assist in enhancing the lives of the young people.

Our staff will not only be volunteering with Prior’s Court, but we have also set a goal of raising £1,500 to go towards their performing arts centre. The performing arts initiative was launched by Prior’s Court to ensure their young people had a bespoke space to access the power of the arts. They have witnessed the positive impact that performing arts have had on young people and want to ensure it is available, in the best setting possible.

Charles Hunter Associates will be hosting fundraising events for staff over the next six months, including an information day, a bake sale with all goods supplied by Prior’s Court on-site bakery, a game of rounders, a pool tournament and a karaoke night.

Everyone at Charles Hunter Associates is looking forward to our partnership with Prior’s Court. You will be able to see updates on our fundraising efforts and volunteer days across our social media.
