Job description
A Welsh Local Authority is looking for a Principal Social Worker to join the front door team. This will be non-case holding and Remote working with a requirement of one day a month to travel to the office to have a team meeting.
The Principle Social Worker will be required to work as part of a team which will provide IAA County wide in line with the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014. Triaging all contacts into Children's Service and undertaking checks to make a decision about next steps. This could be information or advice or referral to assessment team for a wellbeing assessment or child protection enquiry. As a Principle Social Worker you will be chairing Strategy discussions, providing management oversight and supporting social workers.

Your responsibilities as a Principal Social Worker:
- Reviewing all contacts into children services.
- Applying threshold criteria.
- Undertaking lateral checks including speaking to family members and the public
- Appraising historical information
- Assessment and decision making in relation to next steps.
- Ability to chair meetings including strategy meetings.
- Supervision of non-qualified staff
Requirements of you as Principal Social worker:
- Have a relevant professional qualification in Social Work.
- Registration with the Care Council for Wales or equivalent
- This position has a requirement for an Enhanced DBS Check
- Post qualifying experience within Children's Services.
- Experience of undertaking assessments of needs and identifying risks.
- Experience and knowledge in the field of Child Protection, LAC, Court Experience of chairing complex meetings
Location: Wales
Salary scale: up to £45,500 d.o.e
