The Role

A Local Authority is looking for a Lead Practitioner to join their Adult Social Services around the Northwest London area. As the Lead Practitioner, you are expected to deliver the Local Authority's vision of strengths based social care while working closely with partners and their competent, confident, creative and caring workforce. Main Responsibilities:

  • Mentoring and supervising staff within the team ensuring professional standards and best practice.
  • Ensuring that the responsibility of safeguarding adults at risk is a fundamental element of this job and that the principles are embedded in all procedures, practices, professional advice, decisions and support.
  • Working alongside, and when required deputising for the team manager, to prompt an environment of a supportive team enabling them and yourself to work with individuals and promote and support independence choice and control wellbeing at the heart of everything we do.
  • Conducting individual complex assessments and safeguarding enquiries to establish clear, relevant, proportionate and appropriate options for the individual to meet their identified outcomes.
  • Working in partnership with adults, their families, carers and advocates, colleagues, external organisations to provide appropriate, professional social work support for vulnerable older people, adults with physical and sensory impairment or learning disability carers.
  • Working as part of a supportive team to work with individuals to promote and support independence choice and control with wellbeing at the heart of every case.
  • Work to the highest of professional standards so that service users can live more independent and fulfilling lives.

Skills and Qualifications Required

  • A Recognised Social Work qualification (Degree/DipSW/CQSW/CSS or equivalent).
  • A valid registration with Social Work England.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years UK experience working in adult social care as a Social Worker.
  • Must have experience of supervising or mentoring social worker staff.
  • Must have experience of complex case work.
