Job description

Cafcass Manchester requires a Qualified Social Worker to join their team. Suitable candidates must have a degree in social work and at least 2-3 years post qualification experience working in a Children Team that ideally involved court work.

As a Family Court Adviser - which is what they call all their social workers - you will be working directly with vulnerable children and families, to advise the family courts on the best course of action for the child or young person. At the heart of this you will provide case analysis and recommendations to the court.

You will work with parents, relatives, local authorities and the courts, and demonstrate your understanding of what the child needs, wants and feels.

What you need

They require all applicants to have a minimum 3-years post qualified experience, including experience of working with highly vulnerable children and families. You will also be an expert in safeguarding, child engagement, inter-agency working, case analysis, planning and recording. Section 7 report writing is a must as well as court proceeding experience

Our work is demanding, therefore you will need to be resilient and organised, have the ability to work proportionately, with strong IT skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

How Cafcass work

It's a role where you can work truly flexibly. All their social work staff receive a laptop or tablet device and a smart phone. This allows a flexible approach to work. Staff can work from an office, court, or home.

What they offer

You'll have a work environment where they will support your continuing learning and development and a fantastic hourly rate and work life balance.

In return for your skills and commitment they offer a privileged role - being the voice in the family court for some of the most vulnerable children in England.

With approximately 75% of their workforce qualified Social Workers, they are the largest employer of Social Workers in England.
