Charles Hunter Associates holds the principle that it will obtain the highest level of commitment and efficiency from its candidates and therefore meet the following objectives: -


  • Prevent unsuitable people working with children and vulnerable adults.
  • Promote safe practice and challenge poor and unsafe practice.
  • Contribute to effective partnership working between all those involved in the placement of permanent and temporary candidates into Local Authority and Private / Voluntary establishments across the UK.


All organisations and individuals who work with children and young people, or are involved in providing services for them have a duty to safeguard and promote their welfare. Charles Hunter Associates will do everything it can to prevent appointing people who may pose a risk to children, which is an essential part of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.


Charles Hunter Associates conducts the following safeguarding checks and takes sight of all original documents before supplying a candidate into a social work establishment -


  • Face to face interview
  • Proof of identify
  • 5 years written professional references
  • Enhanced DBS disclosure
  • Proof of address using DBS list of acceptable documents
  • Proof of National Insurance number
  • Entitlement to work in the UK
  • Full 10-year employment history with no gaps
  • Proof of professional registration
  • Proof of mandatory training
  • Original qualifications
  • Visa requirements (where applicable)
  • Overseas police check (where applicable)


After interviewing the candidate and evaluating results of the checks, a decision is made centrally on whether the candidate is suitable to join Charles Hunter Associates supply register.

Only then will appropriate work be sought.

If a candidate posed a risk or harmed a child/vulnerable adult while working with Charles Hunter Associates we would work with all appropriate agencies during the investigations as well as conducting our own.
