As the Support Worker your main purpose will be to deliver person centred support to the vulnerable children and young people in the service and support them to achieve the best outcomes in every day life. Below is a list of some of the responsibilities to give you a general understanding of the Support Worker position.

  • Establishing relationships with young people
  • Encourage and support people who use the services to express their views and needs
  • Provide emotional support at times of distress
  • Keeping accurate records and providing written reports on young people for planning meetings, reviews or any other meetings
  • Act as a role model at all times
  • Actively safeguard and promote the welfare of the children/young people.
  • To work in accordance with the Children's Homes Regulations, other statutory guidance, and co-operate with any inspection process


As the Support Worker you must have:

  • Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce *or equivalent*
  • 6 months experience in a children's residential care setting
  • Strong understanding of young people and the issues and behaviours they struggle with
  • Flexibility to work weekends, evenings and sleep ins
