Social Work Assistant required for an Adult Social Work team in East Berkshire. Our client requires a Social Work Assistant to work within an Adult's review team on a contract basis for 6-12 months. This is a full time position, with an immediate start. Hourly rate £12 - £16 per hour.

Duties Include -

  • Assisting with care coordination and case management
  • Holding a caseload of service users
  • Undertaking appropriate assessments, support plans, service delivery packages and reviews

Experience Required-

  • Experience of working within a social care environment
  • Experience of working with vulnerable people and an awareness and sensitivity to the needs and wishes of vulnerable people living in the community with special needs
  • Experience of working with a range of partners in a social care provision
  • Experience of using I.T. e.g. Microsoft packages and Client Information Systems

Knowledge Required -

  • Working knowledge of statutory and non-statutory policies and procedures, and national legislation applicable to responsibilities
  • Basic knowledge of Community Services e.g. Voluntary sector, Council, Independent sector provision, Leisure services and Community centres
  • Awareness of Safeguarding policies and procedures and action to be taken when concerns are raised
  • Knowledge of assessment processes, eligibility outcomes and care planning
  • Knowledge of and commitment to commitment to Equality and Diversity

Skills/ Abilities -

  • Excellent verbal, written and IT skills
  • Able to develop effective working relationships with service users, colleagues and other agencies
  • Ability to work with vulnerable people who are in distress or in crisis
  • Ability to record information clearly under pressure and understand how getting good information contributes to effective care planning
  • Ability to undertake the screening of assessment of service users and carers in the community, identifying any areas of risk
