Charles Hunter Associates are currently seeking an experienced Qualified Social Worker to join Medway Council's 0 - 25 Disability Team on a rolling locum basis.

This role requires the candidate to be a qualified social worker with experience of working with children and families and or young adults and have knowledge of disability. However, we do recognise that they may have more experience with either children or adults. You will have completed your Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) and hold a recognised social work qualification together with demonstrable experience of working with children, young adults and families in the statutory, independent or third sector.

Job Role

  • To contribute to the delivery of highly effective Children & young Adult's Services in an efficient manner; taking responsibility for working and managing a caseload within a framework of appropriate supervision, dependent upon the complexities of these cases and the social worker's experience.
  • The post holder will adhere to and uphold the codes of conduct set out by Medway Council and the HCPC.
  • To work with disabled children, young adults and their families/carers
  • To assess, plan and ensure that disabled children are safeguarded and given opportunity to thrive and develop within their families and community.
  • To assess, plan and use evidence based analytical practice to implement and evaluate safeguarding measures to ensure vulnerable young adults are given the opportunity to maximise and maintain their independence.
  • To work to a structured time management practice; submitting reports, assessments and plans within regulated timescales.
  • To co-ordinate, and take a lead role in, multi-professional/agency core groups and other professional meetings.
  • To be competent in all areas of the Skills and Competency framework for Social Workers.
