Job description

Rotherham Council are looking for a Qualified Social Worker to join the Local Authority as a Locum Independent Reviewing Officer and Child Protection Chair.

Responsibilities as an IRO CP Chair:

  • Understanding of legislation for Children in Need; Children subject to child protection plans; Pathway plans, children Looked After and children with additional needs
  • Evidence of preparing, producing, implementing, and evaluating plans with individual Children, families, carers, and professional colleagues
  • Experience of leading, chairing, recording, and facilitating meetings
  • Ability to relate easily to and support children and young people to participate in their meetings
  • Experience carrying out a range of statutory childcare work within child protection
  • To Chair Child Protection Case Conferences and complex strategy meetings
  • Ability to take appropriate action to ensure decisions in individual cases are followed through
  • Experience of devising outcome focused plans
  • Ability to ensure CP Plans are robustly implemented, reviewed and progressed by the Local Authority

Requirements of the Child Protection Chair:

  • A recognised Social Work qualification (Degree/DipSW/CQSW)
  • A valid Social Work England registration
  • Have competent knowledge and experience of IRO/ CP Chair work
  • A valid UK driving licence and car is essential to this role

Location: Rotherham

Pay rate: Up to £45 per hour
