Charles Hunter Associates is currently seeking an experienced Consultant Social Worker to join Hackney Council's Child in Need Service on a locum basis.

Job Role

To be fully accountable for all work undertaken for children allocated to the social work unit

To manage the social work unit and to prioritise and allocate tasks and responsibilities within the unit in line with departmental objectives.

To provide guidance and direction to social workers, children's practitioners and administrative officer regarding case work.

To provide professional supervision to social workers and qualified children's practitioners, ensuring there are work plans in place and that staff within the social work unit are accountable for their work.

To assist with the professional development of social workers and qualified children's practitioners, undertaking appraisals for both and directing them to learning and training opportunities.

To work closely with therapists assigned to the social work unit, take clinical advice and use this advice to direct social work activity within the unit.

To maintain an up to date working knowledge of legislation, statutory frameworks and codes of practice relevant to the department in order to ensure that statutory responsibilities are undertaken for children. These duties to include visiting children, arranging reviews, reporting to the court, delivering within timescales and meeting any other national and local performance targets.
