We have an opportunity available for a Deputy Manager. Working with a privately owned residential home for vulnerable children and young with emotional behavioural difficulties.

This 6 bedded home which is rated 'Good' with Ofsted supports children and young people of mixed gender between the ages of 11-18 years. Their aim is to create a family orientated environment ensuring the young people are supported and cared for at all times.

As the Deputy Manager, your primary role is to assist the Registered Manager in the running of the home ensuring that the home meets the standards and expectations of the provider and Ofsted. You will naturally assist by supervising and directing the staff team, acting as role model for the team and children and young people, as well as promoting a safe and supportive environment at all times. Below is a list of some of the responsibilities to give you a general understanding of the Deputy Manager position.

  • Support the Registered Manager in ensuring that a therapeutic environment is developed and maintained within the home
  • Deputise in the absence of the Registered Manager
  • To plan, manage and run shifts.
  • To lead and supervise staff, as well as provide guidance and support to the staff team.
  • To ensure that the service meets minimum standards for all legislation including Ofsted and Health & Safety


  • Experience working as a Senior Support Worker/Team Leader in a similar setting
  • NVQ Level 3 Children and Young People's Workforce *or equivalent*
  • Working towards or willing to work towards Diploma Level 5 Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care *or equivalent*
  • Strong staff supervision, managerial and communicational skills
  • Ability to provide consistency of care and support to the young people
  • Ability to interact with a range of young people, their families and other healthcare professionals
  • Ability to lead a team and to deputies in the absence of the Registered Manager
