Charles Hunter Associates are currently assisting a well -established Local Authority based in Surrey to recruit for a permanent Assistants Team Manager ( DoLS Team), the Assistant Team Manager will provide professional social work direction and support across the service.

As Assistant Team Manager you will focus on maintaining and further developing new processes for the management of DOLS requests and the commissioning of Best Interest Assessments and Doctors assessments to meet the large increase in demand that our client has experienced since the change in legislation.

Responsibilities of the Assistant Team Manager (DoLs Team) :

  • You will assistant with Leading monitoring and managing a team ensuring the service is effective.
  • You will Manage the team day to day and help with recruitment, retention of staff and direct line management.
  • You will manage the overall workload of the team
  • You will deputise where necessary for the team manager
  • You will manage and undertake assessments, support planning and reviews.
  • You will work with the multi-disciplinary team to promote and enhance social work practices and services to the highest standards
  • You will be required to provide social work advice based on sound evidence and best practice to members of the multi-disciplinary and senior management teams.

The requirements of you as Assistant Team Manager (DoLs Team):

  • Be fully registered with the HCPC and fully qualified
  • Have experience in a secure unit, with current or previous Forensic Mental Health knowledge.
  • You will have a strong practical understanding of the Mental Health Capacity Act.
  • You must have previous Supervising Social Work experience.
  • You must have a proven track record of management experience who can also evidence their applied knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act, and a working knowledge of the DOLS provisions.
  • Be a car driver and owner.
  • Applicants must be willing and able to work and travel across Surrey.
  • You will need to have competent IT skills and be able and willing to learn to use a variety of software systems
